According to the website Creative Boom, “Jens Müller’s new book, The History of Graphic Design [Taschen], is the most comprehensive exploration of graphic design to date. About 3,500 seminal designs from across the globe guide us in this visual map through contemporary history, from the establishment of the International Style to the rise of the groundbreaking digital age.”

Speaking of that “digital age,” we were honored to learn that our work for Fast Company is part of that History. Our February 1999 cover, titled “How Digital Are You?” was chosen to represent that year in the book, which showcases the most influential design work from 1960 to today.

The selected cover features an illustration by John Craig, the Wisconsin artist and illustrator who had earlier gained fame as the cover artist behind the 1995 Smashing Pumpkins album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
